Taking my first steps as a hobbyist game developer.
It started when I dusted off my old gameboy advance and started wondering how hard it would be to write a GBA game? I suspected it would be quite hard core and to me as a total coding novice it turned out to be a bit too advanced.
In the process I stumbled upon Pico-8 and it looked like a cosy little community. After following some tutorials I realized also pico-8 is pretty hard core with a lot of coding needed but I decided to give it a go anyways.
Pico-8 is painfully restricted but that is a good thing as I need to find a balance between my family life, day job and the game dev amongst other hobbies. Projects need to be very limited in scope so I think I will continue with pico-8 and see where it goes.
